Welcome to our fantastic voyage…

It was June of 2008 and our co-ed basketball team had just finished dominating some unsuspecting team in our San Francisco basketball league. A post-game celebration ensued in one of SF’s finer establishments. The Buc.

Somewhere in the evening, the conversation turned to traveling, which we both agree is paramount in life. What we did not know was that we shared a pipe dream. To leave ”the real world” and take an extended journey of “the World”. Just backpacks, high spirits, enthusiasm, and an openness to learn about culture and people. Upon discovering our shared passion, we vowed then and there that in January of 2009, we would set out on on a trek that would soon be known as the “Fantastic Voyage”.

And, guess what, we’ve stuck to our plan and now it’s official.

Just 2 San Franciscians. 6 months. 3 continents. At least 15 countries. And, most importantly, countless experiences. It will not be a journey of self-gratitude, but rather one of cultural learning, exploration, and an invitiation to all to share in our experiences. We invite all of you to read our blog and contribute your thoughts on where to go and what to do. We’ll miss our friends and family tremendously, but we’ll rest well knowing that you’re on our Journey both virtually and in spirit!
